The Death Troopers made quite the impression in their first official appearance in the Star Wars canon, with their distinct appearance and deadly skill on the battlefield. And now they are making their way to Star Wars Rebels, which only mean bad things for the Ghost crew and the Alliance.

These black-armoured Stormtroopers are an elite Special Forces division of the Imperial military, often tasked with the protection of high ranking officials in the Empire. Hence why for the majority of Rogue One, they are seen escorting around Director Orson Krennic, but here they seem to have swapped him for another official.

Yes, it looks like Grand Admiral Thrawn will be utilising the talents of this elite squad of Stormtroopers, and it looks like he'll be more active on the ground rather than sitting and watching from the sidelines. But he's not the only one it would seem. A fleeting image of the Death Troopers also shows the back of a helmet that resembles that of the one that Governor Tarkin wore in Season One's Call to Action. Tarkin has had fleeting appearances since he stepped in to deal with the insurgency on Lothal, but now that the Rebellion is growing and becoming much more of a threat, it looks like he'll be back to get the situation under control.

The fact is that Rebels is making more Rogue One connections by bringing the Death Troopers over. They may only be seen very briefly in the trailer, but it can spell nothing but bad news for the Rebels. Where they go, death normally follows. They didn’t pull any punches with the Rogue One crew after all.
