Star Wars: Rogue One - 10 Crazy Rumours You Should Definitely Believe

6. The Title Doesn't Refer To Either Of The Rogue Ones From The Movies

It's already been established that Rogue One won't be dealing with any of the characters from the Expanded Universe, but it also won't be prominently focusing on either of the Rogue Ones seen in the movies. This should be pretty obvious, really. In The Empire Strikes Back, Luke Skywalker's Rogue Leader, who is a pointless choice for a spin-off given that the main movies already tell his story in incredible detail. That's led to many expecting the spin-off to now be a Wedge Antilles movie. Sure, that'd certainly make for a great film, but do you really think the second movie of the Disney Star Wars run is going to focus on a minor character from the originals who's biggest claim to fame is that he watched other people destroy the Death Stars? Instead, the Rogue One from the film will probably be a new character (or at least a character new to the role). Although that's assuming the name is even synonymous with Rogue Leader; that link, which everyone's been assuming, is never stated in the movies, only introduced in the defunct Expanded Universe. It could easily be something else entirely.
