Star Wars: Rogue One - 10 Niggling Concerns No Fan Wants To Admit

There are countless side projects looming ominously on the horizon – including rumours of an Obi-Wan Kenobi spin-off, as well as a standalone Boba Fett story – which threaten to devalue the franchise. Disney – intent on capitalising on their investment – plan on squeezing every cent from this particular franchise, clasping at potential stories with unbelievable eagerness.

Rogue One might represent the first step in this inevitable devaluation of the franchise, in which the prospect of a brand new Star Wars movie becomes gradually less tantalising as the novelty wears irritatingly thin. There’s also Episodes VIII and IX around the corner – two sequels being directed by Rian Johnson and Colin Trevorrow, respectively – which might only continue this overexposure of the franchise, accentuated by the inevitability of Episodes X, XI and XII.

The Force Awakens was special because we were told it was never going to happen. In time, the unapologetic exploitation of the franchise might become noticeable, beginning with the release of Rogue One, and continuing indefinitely into the future.
