Star Wars Rogue One: 10 Reasons It's Awesome

8. Krennic Is A Great Star Wars Villain

There was never much doubt that Ben Mendelsohn would make for a fantastic Star Wars baddie, and though he doesn't measure up to the heights of, say, Darth Vader or Kylo Ren, he's still a highly entertaining one-off villain (he's no General Grievous, that's for sure).

Mendelsohn's Orson Krennic captures that distinct bureaucratic villainy that was more present in the earlier Star Wars movies, but isn't merely resigned to being Moff Tarkin #2 either.

While some might argue that he ultimately plays third fiddle to both Tarkin and Darth Vader in this movie, this helps make him a more uniquely exasperated character, and his arc throughout the movie ultimately helps move the pieces in place for A New Hope in an agreeably neat fashion.

He's not as threatening as the aforementioned villains, but he's an interesting addition to the canon who deviates more from the suited-up military commander role than most probably expected.
