As anticipation for Rogue One builds to a crescendo, maintaining inner excitement grows difficult. For both the casual and hardcore fan, it's still amazing to comprehend Star Wars is back. Even after last year's release of The Force Awakens, excitement for the first standalone story is enormous.

The fate of the franchise rests on the success of this film. Can Star Wars stand alone without the immediate presence of someone named Skywalker? The feeling has to be a resounding yes, solely based on the plethora of material being revealed prior to the release of the film.

Rogue One will be the prequel fans have been waiting for. The Force Awakens is proof positive the timeline of the classic trilogy is still the strongest part of the franchise. And even though Rogue One is full of new characters leading the charge, fans will be right at home with the content. We're just a week away from release, and there's a lot we can't wait to see.

10. A New Band Of Heroes

What makes the Star Wars galaxy so rich are the characters that live in this world. Like any good story, moving and emotional characters are everything. While it's long been assumed the entire cast of Rogue One will be gone by film's end, their contributions to the franchise will be significant.

Jyn Erso leads the charge, as the subplot of the film is about her journey to reunite with her father. While the original Star Wars was about a boy longing to leave home and go off on an adventure, Rogue One will be about a girl caught up in a war and trying return home.

Jyn's character and the rest of the cast are all very unique with their own established backstories. Learning about each one of them and why they fight will be an amazing journey throughout the course of the film. The characters may not live on past the credits, but it's a guarantee they'll be explored further in other canon material.
