Star Wars Rogue One: 20 WTF Moments

17. Forest Whitaker's Bizarre Role

There was a lot of excitement when Forest Whitaker was confirmed to be playing resistance fighter Saw Gerrera in the film, a pre-existing character who previously appeared in the Clone Wars animated TV show.

Somewhat strangely, Whitaker has an incredibly small role in the film, appearing briefly when he meets Jyn as a child, only to meet up with her again as an adult, but before he can do much, his fortress is attacked and he's killed in the ensuing destruction.

Further odd is Whitaker's rather eccentric performance, full of over-the-top line deliveries, such as his rather cringe-worthy screech of "Save the rebellion! Save the dream!"

It's safe to say that Whitaker's fans were hoping for a little more from both the player and the part. Instead he's more of an oddity you'll basically forget about the second he's wiped out.
