One of the most charming new characters in Rogue One is Admiral Raddus, a member of the Mon Calamari race who provides strategic assistance to the rebels during the movie's climax.

He is, of course, extremely similar in appearance, voice and job title to the legendary Admiral Ackbar (though his skin is coloured grey instead of brown), so much so that some fans have already keenly deemed him Ackbar's "cousin".

Though it makes sense to include more members of the Mon Calamari in the Star Wars universe, the similarity is undeniably intentional.
