26. The "Exhaust Port" Problem

As much as fans love A New Hope, there's still a lot of hand-wringing over the rather absurd nature of the Death Star having an exposed exhaust port which is capable of blowing the superweapon to pieces.

It's been a bugbear of fans ever since release, but as a direct response to all that criticism, Rogue One finally provides a pretty decent solution.

It in fact turns out that Jyn's father Galen intentionally added the flaw to the Death Star's design, giving the rebels a better chance of taking it down. It still doesn't really make sense why nobody second-guessed this glaring problem, but at least we have something resembling a plausible answer.
