Star Wars: Rogue One - 8 Crazy Fan Theories

4. Diretor Krennic = Snoke

When the trailer for Rogue One dropped, Ben Mendelsohn's character was one of the most mysterious. Resplendent in a white cloak and clearly an important figure within the Empire, theories abounded about his character: was he Tarkin? Was he some version of Thrawn? Jar Jar Binks in disguise?

Instead, it turns out he's a new character, going by the name of Director Krennic. And that's that... or so you'd think. However, revealing his name hasn't stopped the theorising, with one suggesting he's actually a young Supreme Leader Snoke (because that guy HAS to be someone, right?!).

Having him be Krennic is a way of doing that without using Darth Plagueis, and gives Rogue One a clear tie into The Force Awakens, while also explaining knowledge Snoke has of the Empire. It goes further, comparing outfits - early Snoke designs had him wearing white - and even the bone/facial structure of both Snoke and Mendelsohn.
