Star Wars: Rogue One Vs Solo - Which Is Better?
12. Humor
Both Rogue One and Solo are fairly funny films in their own right, but it's rather clear that the latter put much greater emphasis on humor than its predecessor did.
After all, Han Solo is one of Star Wars' funniest characters, so it only stands to reason that a film based entirely around him would make for an effective comedy. Han himself had some solid quips throughout the film, not to mention Alden Ehrenreich's great comedic timing. In addition, Donald Glover and Woody Harrelson, both of whom are major players in world of comedy, get plenty of decent laughs as Lando and Beckett, respectively.
Rogue One definitely had its own moments of comedic brilliance as well, despite being more drama-centric. K-2SO was easily the driving comedic force behind the movie, with more hilarious moments that most of the other characters combined. That's not to say that the rest of the cast was completely void of comedy, mind you. Jyn Erso, Orson Krennic, and Chirrut Îmwe all had some great one-liners. Even Darth Vader got in on action, making a snarky pun as he was force choking Krennic (truly he was Obi-Wan's apprentice).
Winner: Solo takes the point here fairly easily. To be fair, Rogue One was never really trying to be a comedy in the same way that Solo was, but the fact remains that Solo is still a much funnier film to sit through.
