Star Wars: Solo - 10 New Details Lucasfilm Just Revealed
9. The Humour
Although comedy has recently proved a divisive subject in Star Wars after The Last Jedi, humour has always been a key part of the franchise, and especially in the character of Han Solo.
He is, after all, the man who gave us what's arguably Star Wars' funniest moment - "we're fine... boring conversation anyway" - and a film about him needs to reflect that to some degree. Luckily, Clarke says we won't be disappointed:
"All the Star Wars films have got, obviously, a beautiful flavour of humour in them, but this … this gets to be Han Solo funny, which is not the comic interlude — the comic interlude is it."
The trailer did give us a tease of some humour, but certainly nothing that suggested it would be an outright comedy - which is what it seemed to be heading towards more when Lord & Miller were in charge. Their improvisational style is reportedly what led to their firing, but Clarke's comments line-up with there still being plenty of humour, albeit humour that sticks to the script.
