Star Wars: The Best Moment From Every Movie, Ranked

11. The Jedi Arrive - Star Wars: Episode II - Attack Of The Clones

Empire Strikes Back
Disney

Perhaps this is more nostalgia than anything else, because there are a few great moments scattered throughout Attack of the Clones, including Anakin's slaughter of the Tusken Raider clan that killed his mother and Obi-Wan's battle with Jango Fett.

But few can argue with the excitement of the Battle of Geonosis, when it seems Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padme Amidala are doomed to fall at the hands of the Separatists before the Jedi Council arrive, en masse, to save the day.

From Mace Windu's intimidatingly calm confrontation with his old friend Count Dooku to the moment all the Jedi ignite their lightsabers, it's a sequence that still feels wondrous, portraying the Jedi as a large, powerful force for the first time in the saga's history.

In a film of countless mistakes and questionable choices - Anakin's hatred of sand speech, the stilted romantic subplot, George Lucas's painful inability to write compelling dialogue - the Jedi's arrival on Geonosis is a sight to behold, even though the ensuing battle signals the eventual downfall of the Republic and its great protectors.

Aidan Whatman hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
