Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Awesome Things (That Won’t Happen)

1. Leia Orders The Destruction Of Coruscant Using Death Star Technology

At the end of Return Of The Jedi (Special Edition), the Imperial Capital City of Coruscant falls: statues are toppled as people flood the streets and fireworks are shot into the sky. However, by the time Episode VII rolls into theatres it'll be 30 years since then. Over the course of a 30 year war, its easy to imagine that there would be deep, pervasive contempt as well. Many scars, many deaths, and a ruthless spirit would invariably enter into the equation. It can only be assumed that the Empire is still around in some form since there are still Stormtroopers around, so who's to say they didn't recapture the capital at some point? Perhaps the only way to win the war would be with an ultimate weapon; perhaps the Rebels (or the Republic) would be down to a last ditch effort to win the day. If the Empire had somehow recaptured Coruscant, wouldn't it be poetic justice if Princess Leia had to make the call to destroy the entire planet - with the Empire's entire leadership - with Death Star technology? It would certainly go a long way to avenge the destruction of Alderaan... but at what cost? In any event, to see the tables turned like that would be a fantastic way to shock fans and turn the entire Star Wars Universe on its head. After all, what better way to make the new Universe unpredictable than to have the good guys employ the use of a Death Star? Alas, this is the least likely thing to happen in any Star Wars movie. Which of these rumours do you most wish were true? Share your thoughts below in the comments thread.
