Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Awesome Things (That Won’t Happen)

8. The Return Of Dash Rendar

In the Expanded Universe novel and Nintendo 64 game Shadows of the Empire, Dash Rendar was a stand-in rogue for the flash frozen Han Solo. Many fans took to the character's Corellian swagger, sharp shooting skills, and impeccable piloting even though he was essentially a mulligan on Solo's character. Following the events of Shadows of the Empire, Rendar was presumed dead by many, but was in fact just lying low; his appearance in Episode VII wouldn't in that sense oppose anything from the source material. However, considering that Shadows of the Empire is no longer canon, Rendar's entire existence is called into question. His ship, the Outrider can be seen leaving Mos Eisley just as Luke and Obi Wan show up in the Special Edition of A New Hope, so its possible that both Dash and his sassy droid companion Leebo still exist. This is a character whose time has more than come for a big screen treatment and any context he could be inserted too would be all the more exciting for it. He would be especially useful as a spy or sleeper agent, possibly in the Lando/Boba Fett plot outlined earlier, or anywhere else. As an exile of the Outer Rim, he'd certainly be no stranger to Tattooine. He might even be especially useful in the search for a missing Luke Skywalker...
