Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Big Questions We Still Have No Answers For

4. How Does Rey Tie Into All Of This?

Having Finn as a main character who defects from the First Order is a good driving force for the film, but Rey's role in Finn's and the film's story is arguably more interesting. From the trailers, it appears that Rey meets up with an AWOL Finn and the two team up for some reason. This leads to the question of why a simple scavenger on some lonely desert planet would get herself caught up in the conflict between the Rebels, the First Order, and (presumably) the Sith? Boredom? Love? Money? Who knows. Trying to figure out Rey's motivations and why she's important enough to be one of the main characters is infinitely trickier than it was for Finn. There are a few good theories out there that attempt to address why Rey plays an important part in the film. Some theorise that she is in fact the daughter of either Han and Leia, or Luke and an unknown woman and she is (unknowingly) in hiding as a scavenger on Jakku. Others theorise that perhaps she's the one who comes across Luke's first lightsaber and this ties her into the overall story. You may not know who the heck Rey is or what her deal is just yet, but as a character who rappels though ruins of crashed star ships for a living, you at least know that Rey is going to be one badass character.

My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem. Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh. You can follow me at @Fry_ying_pan but don't be offended if I don't tweet back. It's usually because I've spent too long trying to think up a witty response that the reply window has closed.
