Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Big Questions We Still Have No Answers For
5. Why Did Finn Join The Stormtroopers Before Wanting Out?
It's been established that the first few generations (at least) of Stormtroopers were clones of Jango Fett. Since Finn looks nothing like Jango, this implies that the supply of clones ran out at some point and the Empire had to get Stormtroopers through the old fashioned way of military recruitment. Since Finn isn't just some mindless clone built for war, you can assume that he would have some knowledge about the Empire, the Rebel Alliance, the decades long conflict, and how Stormtroopers were essentially the red-shirts in the Empire's plan for complete control of the galaxy. All this leads to the question of why did he join the Stormtroopers in the first place and what horrible act committed by the Stormtroopers and/or the First Order could've swayed him to leave an organisation that he seemingly joined voluntarily in the first place? Based on his line of "I was raised to do one thing", perhaps he is part of a new generation of clones who just happened to gain self-awareness and doesn't enjoy doing the First Order's dirty work. Or maybe he was brought up in an environment where Empire propaganda was everywhere, the Rebels were seen as scum, and joining the Stormtrooper ranks was seen as a good thing. With his motivations still unknown, the one thing you can be absolutely sure is that Finn didn't join the Stormtroopers in order to improve his shooting accuracy.
My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem.
Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh.
