Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Deleted Scenes Which Would've Made It Perfect

10. Kylo Ren, A Literal Darth Vader Impersonator

One of the most interesting parts about Star Wars: The Force Awakens was Kylo Ren's apparent obsession with his grandfather, and with only a single scene of him talking to the charred remains of Darth Vader's helmet, this is something J.J. Abrams arguably didn't devote anywhere near enough time to. However, earlier versions of the movie would have seen him don a costume almost identical to the deceased Sith Lord. The reason the director was at one point considering heading in this direction was because he liked the thought of Kylo Ren dressing as Vader in order to mess with the head of Luke Skywalker. However, as cool as it would been to see Darth Vader make a return of sorts, it's easy to see why this idea was scrapped, though Ren's helmet is similar enough to his grandfather's that it's clear Abrams didn't abandon the idea completely. Interestingly, that's not the only way Kylo Ren could have differed. For a time, the movie toyed with the idea of a Jedi Killer (a concept later used for the Star Wars Rebels TV series), a villain who would have been powered by the energy of sun. That sounds a little out there, and of all the possible alternatives, scenes depicting the unhinged Ben Solo dressing as an updated Vader of sorts would have been a lot of fun to see.
