Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Deleted Scenes Which Would've Made It Perfect
6. A Lightsaber Floating Through Space
You may remember that a rumour started doing the rounds last year about Star Wars: The Force Awakens kicking off with a lightsaber (and possibly even Luke Skywalker's hand) floating through space. At the time, many people scoffed at the suggestion - it was a pretty outlandish rumour to be fair - but it has now been revealed that this was indeed the way the movie was going to open for a time. However, talk of it then landing on Jakku and being immediately discovered by Rey wasn't actually accurate. Instead, this scene would have taken place shortly after the battle between Luke and Darth Vader on Cloud City, with the action then jumping ahead to the assault on that Jakku village and presumably the reveal of Max Von Sydow's character (initially rumoured to be a scrap dealer of sorts) handing it over to Poe Dameron and BB-8. This admittedly sounds a tad jumbled, but had it been handled in an effective manner, the movie kicking off with such an iconic sight after the iconic crawl would have arguably been a lot more memorable.
