Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Deleted Scenes Which Would've Made It Perfect

3. Chewbacca's Savage Side

Another scene which thankfully stands a very good chance as winding up as a Blu-ray special feature somewhere down the line, Star Wars: The Force Awakens very nearly did enough to earn its 12A/PG-13 rating. It turns out that Simon Pegg's Unkar Plutt was originally going to track the Millennium Falcon to Maz Kanata's home, and after cornering and threatening Rey, Chewbacca would have torn off his arm and thrown it across her bar much to the chagrin of the gamblers whose table it landed on. Was this one throwback to A New Hope too many for Abrams? That's certainly one possible explanation for why it was cut, though the fact that Disney owns Lucasfilm may be another (it may be tougher to get parents to buy their kids a stuffed toy of a character who just ripped someone's arm clean off after all). However, this is the kind of thing that fans love about Chewbacca, and while The Force Awakens didn't necessarily need this scene, it still would have been fun to see the fan-favourite Wookie get such a cool moment.
