Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Fears Alleviated By The Teaser Trailer

9. The CGI Levels Look Just About Right

The Fear: JJ Abrams would rely on too much CGI. Why The Teaser Eased That Fear: One of the best things about the original Star Wars films were their brilliant practical sets and special effects, which allowed the world to feel "real." George Lucas opted to use more and more CGI when he got around to making his prequel trilogy, which effectively rendered Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith as cinematic video games; as a result, they just didn't feel all that Star Wars-like. Of course, it would be delusional to expect J.J. Abrams to use have used practical sets and special effects at every point - this is 2014, after all, and such expectations would be unrealistic. But folk might, at least, expect Episode VII to feel connected to Episode VI. Going by the look of the CGI to practical sets ratio glimpsed in the teaser, however, it appears as if Abrams has hit the perfect balance.
