Star Wars: The Force Awakens – 10 Major Plot Clues From The New Trailers

1. The Eyes Have It

The assumption has long been that Rey is the daughter of Han and Leia, and response to the TV spot seems to have mostly been that Maz Kanata's quotes about seeing eyes and recognising them from another generation confirm that. But there are a couple of issues with that. Firstly, Rey actually seems to visit Kanata's base WITH Han, so the quote doesn't make sense in context. Why not just say "your eyes look like his, look, they're right there"? The suggestion of Kanata's poetic mystery is that she's talking about someone unknown or long lost: which is presumably why Rey, Han and Finn seek her out in the first place. She's an Elder sort of figure with magical eyes (and perhaps foresight?), and given the fact that she surrounds herself with the kind of people how know things and are skilled at acquiring, you have to suspect that the group seek her help to find either Luke or his lightsaber. The fact that she greets Rey (presumably) with the cryptic praise of her eyes suggests she's encountered one of her family who isn't in attendance (ruling out Han, unless he's still purposefully hiding the fact that he's her father at this point). Looking a little deeper, there's also something in the fact that Rey and Kylo Ren have the exact same eye mask design. If that's simply a coincidence in conjunction with this line, then Luke Skywalker is a Wampa. More fuel for the twins theory. What did you see teased in the new Star Wars trailer and TV Spot?
