Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Major Questions From The New Trailer

7. Why Does Finn Go Turncoat?

A new character that's already been generating a fair bit of chatter is John Boyega as Finn. The young actor broke through as the lead in Joe Cornish's hoodies-vs-aliens sci-fi comedy Attack The Block, and his star has risen to the point that he was the first face seen on screen in the last Force Awakens teaser. There he was looking panicked and sweaty in a classic Stormtrooper uniform. Without the mask, obviously. Here he's seen again in the plastic white get-up, avoiding certain death during an attack on his fellow soldiers. But he doesn't look like the bad guy €“ in fact, all sources point to him being the heroic lead of The Force Awakens, the closest equivalent to a Luke Skywalker. Besides Mark Hamill as the returning, older Luke Skywalker. An assertion that's backed up by his swift shedding of that Stormtrooper gear when he starts hanging out with Daisy Ridley's Rey, after which he begins running for his life in a totally different, Imperial-free outfit. So does that mean that Finn began as a Stormtrooper, but deserted for some reason? If so, why? And if not, was he undercover or something? What's the deal?
