Star Wars: The Force Awakens – 10 Mythology Aspects That Must Be Explored Further
2. The Creation Of Lightsabers
"Your father's lightsaber. This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight." With those few words, an audience of millions was completely enthralled. Over the years, in various films, books and T.V. shows, audiences had been witness to many different forms of weapons. And while there had been advancements in technology as movies progressed, the cinema going public had been mostly restricted to seeing guns, swords and knives. As sci-fi films progressed they brought some advancements - laser blasters come to mind - but nothing quite prepared fans for a "laser sword". As Kenobi described it as; "an elegant weapon for a more civilized age", it became abundantly clear that the Lightsaber was special. Watching Obi-wan wield it for the first time in the Mos Eisley cantina demonstrated its awesome power and it only got better from there. But HOW does one 'discover' the ability to make a weapon of this nature? What is the history here? It's known it requires a special crystal to make it work properly, but the mechanics and construction are clearly beyond that. Giving screen time to the discovery and origin of this ultimate weapon would be completely captivating for Star Wars fans.
