Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 9 Plot Holes That Almost Ruined The Film
3. The Chances Of The Characters Running Into One Another On Starkiller Base Are Close To Impossible
Think for a second how big Starkiller Base actually is. It's like the size of the Earth. Whilst much of it is covered in woods and rivers and such, a large portion of Starkiller Base is actual base; you know, the canon and the surrounding buildings that make up the First Order's gargantuan fortress. Estimate, say, 30%, based on the images. Can you imagine being dropped right into the middle of that base - one that stretches out for the size of entire countries, by the way - and then, out of complete chance, wind up running into your friend who was also dropped in at random? It would take weeks or months to walk your way between sections of Starkiller Base, and yet the characters in The Force Awakens are bumping into one another like it's nobody's business. Han and Finn bump into Captain Phasma. Then they run into Rey. Then Han runs into Kylo Ren. But this place is impossibly huge; an endless maze of similar-looking corridors all connected to one another for thousands and thousands of miles - at least, that's how it looks when you see pictures of the base or glimpse its size in the movie. Granted, it's a creative embellishment, and one that likely nods at the Death Star scenes in A New Hope where things play out in a similar fashion. Still, given the size of the planet, the characters technically could have never moved about in the way that the film depicts.
