Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Questionable Moments From The Final Trailer

3. Is It All Too Familiar, Maybe?

A cynical view to take, no doubt, but the final trailer - generally speaking - contains a lot of familiar elements. It's very, very similar in its premise to the original Star Wars movie; a lowly nobody on a desert planet who suddenly realises that they're destined for a lot more. There is clearly supposed to be a comparison between young Luke and young Rey. Now, this isn't as much of a complaint as it is a niggling concern (one made slightly bigger by the arrival of the final trailer) - a small instance of doubt that induces a very mild form of panic about the potentially same-y plot awaiting fans in The Force Awakens. Of course J.J. Abrams and his co-writer, Lawrence Kasdan, were going to look back at the history of Star Wars in order to render their movie, though; it makes total sense that the would search for a plot that embraced the origins of the franchise. But other inclusions, such as reports of a new Death Star-like weapon, provoke slightly nervous feelings of deja vu.
