10. How We Meet The Movie's Three New Leads

When J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan took over writing duties from Michael Arndt, they apparently decided to put a greater focus on returning cast members Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher. The three new young leads are expected to take on more significant roles in the subsequent instalments of the trilogy (think of The Force Awakens as a passing of the torch), but are still going to be a major part of this movie. Talking at Star Wars Celebration earlier this year, Daisy Ridley confirmed that we first meet Rey on Jakku and that, "She€™s a scavenger in a ship graveyard - completely self-sufficient, very solitary, until she meets another character and an adventure begins." That character is Finn (John Boyega), the Stormtrooper who deserts his unit. Revealing that Finn is in incredible danger when we meet him - something which makes sense seeing as Gwendoline Christie's Captain Phasma is apparently hunting him down - the actor would also say that, "The way in which he decides to react to this danger changes his life, and launches him into the Star Wars universe in a unique way." Finally, there's Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron. We already know that he's an X-Wing pilot thanks to the teaser trailer, but the actor claims that he's the best in the Galaxy and that we'll first meet him while he's on a mission for Princess Leia. It's when he meets Finn that, "their fates are forever intertwined." Just like Han, Luke, and Leia, it seems these characters are destined to meet...
