Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Things You Need To Know
6. Domhnall Gleeson's Mysterious Role
At this point, it's still hard to say who will be the main villain of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Kylo Ren appears to be a Sith, but is he Master or Apprentice? Captain Phasma meanwhile seems like she's probably just a high ranking Stormtrooper than their actual leader, so that leaves us with Dominic Gleeson's mysterious role. It initially looked as if he had been cast as Luke Skywalker's son, especially as early reports indicated that Lucasfilm were looking for an actor with a similar appearance to a young Mark Hamill. However, at Comic-Con, he was confirmed to be a bad guy and got a name; General Hux. As Gleeson himself said, "Of course . He's British!" It seems as if he will be taking on a Tarkin-like role in this movie, and while specifics on what he's up to are scarce, the fact Hux has been shown with both Phasma and other Stormtroopers means it's likely he's involved with The First Order. One other very interesting titbit revealed in San Diego was the fact that Hux uses "a large machine to obtain something." Could that be a reference to a new Death Star? Why wouldn't what remains of the Empire attempt to make another? Of course, this one may need to have a not so easy to exploit design flaw...
