The greatest mystery of the film revolved around: 'Where's Luke?' 'Why is Luke not on the poster?' 'Where is Luke in the trailers?' and it was incredibly simply answered by J.J. Abrams. He wasn't heavily involved in the promotional campaigns because he wasn't heavily involved in the film itself. Mark Hamill didn't even have to move his mouth, he just had to stare. The madcap theories about Luke turning to the Dark Side, being Kylo Ren or becoming the next 'Emperor' figure were all wide of the mark (as far as we can tell...) and we really don't know any more about Luke now than we did before the film. We know he's alive. That's about it. The final moments were spectacularly simple and utterly engrossing. Episode VIII is going to explode once Luke finally (hopefully) gets back into his groove.
