We came for a lightsaber fight, and we left the cinema after witnessing one of the all-time greatest Star Wars duels. The promotional material touted Finn as the new Jedi, but it was Rey who let the Force in, and she used it superbly to summon Luke's old lightsaber. Her clash with Kylo Ren will go down as the most iconic moment from the film, and it hopefully serves as a tantalising tease at future battles we can expect. The red and blue weapons clashed gorgeously in the dark snowy forest, making for a moment that feels like this generation's Vader vs. Skywalker. This was history being made. The original trilogy saw less choreographed, more heartfelt duels, while the prequels showcased some highly technical, cold lightsaber ballets, but Kylo vs. Rey blended the two seamlessly. It was action-packed, it was emotional, and there was a genuine fear of the total unknown; the duel had it all. Hopefully the next two films can deliver many more incredible fight scenes for us to lose our minds over.
