6. Kylo Ren Is A Fantastic Villain
So, who is Kylo Ren, the mysterious villain of the piece? Teased to be someone who uses the Force, but isn't a Sith, and is apparently a total Vader fanboy, it wasn't clear exactly what we would get from Adam Driver. Now it is, and the answer is the best Star Wars villain since Darth Vader. He may worship the Sith Lord, but there's a closer tie than first appeared: he's Han and Leia's son, Vader's grandson. Originally trained by Luke, he was too consumed by rage, and lured to the Dark Side by Supreme Leader Snoke. That inner-turmoil comes out on screen, and Adam Driver really succeeds in creating a multi-layered bad guy. He does terrible things, but he isn't purely evil, and there's also a great physicality that comes from Driver as well, while the voice - which will no doubt prove divisive - really lends something extra and different to him. From the way he gives in to petulant fits of rage to unmasking while trying to command Rey, that lightsaber battle and, of course, that reunion with his father, Kylo Ren ensures he's the most fascinating presence in this new story.
