The shots we'd seen from the first trailer of the First Order standing in formation before General Hux seemed to suggest some sort of Nazi-like parade or rally, but the TV spots added another element thanks to the giant red flash on the horizon. It would appear that the troops are actually there to witness Hux turning on the Starkiller base for the first time - which also adds context to the shot of Kylo Ren standing on a bridge (turning what was assumed to be empty lens flare into an actual weapon flare). So that spells bad news for the Rebels. Will this be a flashback? Could it be part of the vision Kylo Ren implants in Poe Dameron during his interrogation? It's also impossible to avoid the parallel to a "Hitler salute" or a power fist sign shown by the First Order to Hux. The Nazi symbolism is strong in this one.
