8. More Female Stormtroopers

While a new female lead and a female villain is certainly a step in the right direction for the formerly male centric Star Wars franchise, there's going to be a little more diversity in The Force Awakens than expected. It's not clear at this point if the movie is going to show Stormtroopers without their helmets on (it's certainly possible given what happens with Finn and the fact that it's hard to imagine Gwendoline Christie keeping her face hidden for the entirety of The Force Awakens), but J.J Abrams has now revealed that Captain Phasma won't be the only woman wearing the armour of The First Order. "We had women in Stormtrooper costumes in the movie," he confirmed, meaning that the Stormtroopers will be made up of soldiers who are both mixed race and mixed gender, whether some fans like it or not!
