Unfortunately, Entertainment Weekly doesn't have much to say about them, but they did catch up with production designer Rick Carter to talk about the decision to not drastically alter the design of ships like these. "The shape, overall, commands a graphic presence. And then you can detail it all you want," he said of incorporating and updating the iconic vehicles which were made famous by the original trilogy. " throw everything they can at it just because they can do it. And Ive been there, so I understand what that is, but you have to hold back sometimes." Other than a slightly different colour design, that's a TIE Fighter, alright!
