Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 23 Major New Reveals You Need To See
20. Luke's Exile
It's become apparent that Luke Skywalker is in hiding for some reason in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but could this be the reason why? Speculation has obviously been running rampant, with fan theories pointing to everything from him failing to create a new Jedi Order (who turned to the Dark Side with Kylo Ren) to the son of Darth Vader actually being revealed as this trilogy's new big bad. While both of those are equally ridiculous and believable, Entertainment has dropped an interesting titbit which actually points to a much simpler explanation. Among the lies fed to those young recruits of The First Order was the fact that Luke Skywalker was, "a villain who destroyed the benevolent Empire." While there are no doubt those that remember life under Imperial rule, could the perception of the inhabitants of a Galaxy Far, Far Away been turned to thinking the Rebellion and Jedi were actually evil? If so, that explains Luke's absence and why the Rebels are now the Resistance.
