21. The Reused Arch

The large arch seen in the background of Jakku in the opening sequence is another reuse of some old Ralph McQuarrie concept art. The structure first appeared in the 1995 book "The Illustrated Star Wars Universe" and was originally pictured as part of Jabba the Hutt's palace on Tatooine. This is actually its third appearance, after it also appeared as part of the Teth monastery in The Clone Wars.
