Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 6 Characters We Know DEFINITELY Won't Die
5. Finn
Come on, you shouldn't be shocked. Killing off Finn in the first film at the start of a trilogy that has been widely proclaimed to be a passing of the torch sort of deal would be backward. Yes he might be gravely injured (it wouldn't be surprising if that's him lying in the snow with Rey crying over him), but death will be a stretch too far. For now anyway. The Evidence It's all pretty circumstantial, but this is no court of law, and it's all weighty enough here. Firstly, during the global press conference, Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that "Rians about to start shooting Episode VIII." and then added "These guys are getting ready to head over in January," with a meaningful gesture towards John Boyega (and Gwendoline Christie and Oscar Isaac). Would she have done that if they weren't "heading over in January" to film? Harrison Ford was sitting on the other side and got no gesture, so you're probably right to have a bad feeling. And then there's also the fact that Boyega himself revealed that his character's mysteries haven't yet been unveiled:
I didnt know much going in. I just remember during my time screen-testing, I was like, to Daisy , theres no way that our stories are so simple, and we still dont know! So Ive still got some conspiracy theories as a fan as to where Finn comes from and Im still trying to figure that out, but I like that its a mystery.
Surely Abrams wouldn't leave that question unanswered and then kill off Finn? It makes more sense that the characters' arcs will follow the revelations of the original trilogy's secrets and be explored as the sequels unfold.
