Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 6 Reasons Mark Hamill Could Ruin It

2. He Lacks In Confidence

While most of what Mark Hamill has said about himself in interviews over the past few months can be taken as tongue in cheek, there is no smoke without fire and the years spent out of the limelight have certainly seemed to knock his confidence. Like a certain section of the fandom, Hamill has had reservations about continuing the Star Wars saga, something he openly admitted: €œI said to George, €˜Have you really thought this through? Because maybe it€™s not such a great idea.€™ First of all, I never thought I€™d be involved in it again, period. I€™m one of those people where I just think, €˜Keep me out of it. I€™ll ruin it, I€™m sure!€™ I€™ll show up and just ruin the whole thing.€ This lack of self-belief certainly isn€™t something you would expect from a Jedi Knight, and as a professional actor the chances are he managed to either mask his worries or shake them off before filming began, but what if he couldn€™t? Conspiracy theorists among you will point to the fact that Hamill has been practically absent from the teaser trailers realised thus far, with the exception of a bionic hand and €“ you guessed it €“ a voice over. Even that he kept fluffing and needing to retake, repeatedly saying "my Father had it" when the line is, of course, "my Father has it". Han and Chewie were given a run out for the entertainment of the old guard, why not Luke himself? Are we being readied for a lack of Skywalker?
