Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 7 Big Questions About Rey That Need Answering
1. What's Her Surname?
Unlike Poe and Kylo, Rey's surname has been purposely left unsaid. Could there be a major reason for this?
It may be that she simply goes by one name, or that she abandoned her family name when living out in the desolation of Jakku. Or it might be that to reveal it gives away a large part of her story.
Ever since the first cast photo was released, it has been speculated that Daisy Ridley would be playing the daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leia, mostly due to people totally overanalysing the picture: "She’s sitting between Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher!" "She’s leaning in to talk to Fisher!" "They’re both female and brunette, they must be related!"
In the timeframe, and given the way the original series ended, it would be entirely plausible of Han and Leia to have had children, so it could well be that she is their offspring. Whatever the case, it seems as though it’ll be something that’s kept a mystery a while longer, maybe even all the way through to Episode VIII.
