Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 7 Reasons Killing Han Solo Would Be A Terrible Mistake

6. Han's Death Would Overshadow Everything Else About The Force Awakens

Han Solo is one of the most famous movie characters of all-time. When you opt to kill off a character with the weight and influence of a Han Solo, you can't treat it lightly. It's just impossible. Which means that, should Han meet his end at some point during The Force Awakens, his death will overshadow everything else about the movie. It will become the one and only thing that everybody will talk about when they amble out of the theatre. You have to wonder, then, whether the death of Han Solo's character would ultimately ruin the rest of the film (or, at the very least, take a lot away from it). After all, the shocking nature of such a death would dominate the conversation; fans wouldn't be able to digest the rest of the film because they'd be fixated on what had happened to Han. The Force Awakens, in turn, would find itself cemented as "the one where Han Solo dies." After everybody's hard work on The Force Awakens, it feels like including Han's death would be an instinctively unwise path to take, given that it would presumably wind up being the most controversial character death since... well, ever. And don't people want to enjoy Episode VII for different reasons? Han's death would make the film about just one thing.
