Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 8 Reasons It's Better The Second Time

4. The Jokes Are Just As Funny The Second Time

In a lot of cases, you sit down to re-watch a movie that you thought was hilarious and you don't laugh anywhere near as much: the jokes, though admirable, only worked that initial time you heard them. Nothing wrong with that - it just happens with some jokes. That could have been the case with The Force Awakens, too, with its Whedon-esque quips and visual gags. Many of these had audiences rolling in the aisles when they ventured out to see the film - highlights include BB-8 giving Finn a "thumbs up," and Oscar Isaac wondering who should speak first when he first meets Kylo Ren - but would they be as engaging outside of the hype bubble? Thankfully, yes; the funny parts inherent to Episode VII - all those comical moments you're grinning about right now - are just as funny the second time around (as was also the case for the majority of the humorous moments in the classic trilogy). Pretty good going for a motion picture that isn't actually a comedy, huh?
