7. We're Definitely Going To Find Out Who Rey's Parents Are

Star Wars: The Force Awakens left fans with a very long list of unanswered questions, but chief among them was the identity of Rey's parents. There are countless theories attempting to figure out who she's related to and how she ended up on Jakku, and with Episode VIII getting pushed back to December 2017 it's going to be a long wait. Lest we think that those behind the new trilogy are making things up as they go along, J.J. Abrams has confirmed that he's well aware of who her parents are, but refused to drop any hints about that or Episode VIII in general as he's obviously now passed the franchise over to Rian Johnson. Colin Trevorrow was a little more forthcoming though, promising a "deeply and profoundly satisfying" answer by the time Episode IX hits. As a result, it's not clear whether they're saving the reveal for the next movie or the final instalment of the new trilogy, but we do at least know that their identities will be made clear by the time the final chapter rolls around. The identity or Rey's parents has created such a stir that Lucasfilm dare not disappoint fans expecting a major twist or shocking revelation, so no one could blame Johnson leaving this up to Trevorrow!
