20. Rey Meets BB-8

Another parallel to the original film, we have the main character meet their faithful droid for the first time - "Where do you come from?" asks Rey, confirming that BB-8 is a new acquisition. We saw in the Entertainment Weekly photos her freeing the ball droid from a net, which you can see in the sand in this shot, but that's as far as any explanation of how the pair met goes. Could BB-8 have been sent to Jakku to get Rey? That looks like a likely explanation - afterwards Rey says "I know all about waiting... for my family", suggesting she actually is more than a scavenger and pretty much confirming all that Skywalker/Solo theorising. We also get to hear BB-8's beeps, a much higher pitched tone than R2-D2. In fact, this new trailer is full of extended new sound effects!
