Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Ranking The Original Characters Worst To Best

7. R2-D2

As one of only two characters to have now appeared in all seven Star Wars films, it was somewhat disheartening to see our favorite astromech droid sidelined in The Force Awakens, spending almost the entirety of the film in a self-induced coma without Luke around. As a result, there's not a whole lot to say about his role in the film, as he's always been defined by his interactions with others and, particularly, his ability to get everyone else around him out of hot water. His awakening at the end of the film drew much applause, clearly proving that even the lackluster response to the prequels has done little to diminish how beloved the droid is over the years. Despite having so little to do before and after he and BB-8 put their maps together, he'll undoubtedly have much more to do in Episode VIII now that he's back in the game, and it's hard not to be excited to see him reunited with Luke once more.
