Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Ranking The Original Characters Worst To Best

6. C-3PO

C-3PO's unique brand of uptight exhaustion with the events around him was part of the original trilogy's many charms, particularly when it came to other characters - like Han Solo - getting exhausted with him in return, though it's easy to see why some people may not be able to stand him. The prequels, unfortunately, did the character no real favors, shoehorning in a backstory that tied him to Anakin Skywalker before woefully dragging him into the realm of CGI buffoonery in Attack of the Clones, which became Exhibit A in the case for how the character works best in moderation. Even still, C-3PO remains an inarguable piece of Star Wars after all these years, so The Force Awakens had to handle his return delicately or risk redoing the "too much" problem of the prequels. Luckily, C-3PO's role was balanced just right, restoring him to the restrained comic relief status of the original trilogy, with his suitably awkward and naive first appearance eliciting the genuine - and earned - laughs and applause that moments like his head being placed on a battle droid only dreamed of.
