Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 11 Major Details Revealed By Vanity Fair
3. Anakin's Lightsaber Is Now Rey's
The last time we saw Rey on the big-screen, she was standing on the top of Ahch-To, handing Luke's old lightsaber (which belonged to his father Anakin before him) back to him.
It's a powerful moment, but it seems as though Luke may not readily accept his old weapon. We see Rey training with it in the trailer for The Last Jedi, and now it's been revealed that the lightsaber - which is more commonly known as Anakin's, since Luke has another - is now being called "Rey's lightsaber" in the official marketing for the movie and its merchandise. Pablo Hidalgo would only hint at what exactly that means though:
"In The Force Awakens, Maz says that the saber is calling to Rey now. Whether or not it’s literally calling to her to become hers or it’s calling to her because she knows it will be taken back to Luke—we’ll see."
There's also the question of Luke's green lightsaber, the weapon he constructed himself after losing Anakin's in The Empire Strikes Back. Though it's yet to resurface in any marketing, it could well make another appearance, with Hidalgo saying:
"We’re not ones to lose track of lightsabers.”
