The reason given for Luke heading to Ahch-To was to find the first Jedi Temple, something it was later confirmed did happen. However, we've also heard mentions of huts on the island, which form a sort-of make shift village for its inhabitants. Based on EW's coverage, these may actually be one and the same.

One of the photos has Rey outside one of the structures, referred to as the "ruins of the Jedi Temple", but looking a lot like the huts we saw courtesy of Vanity Fair. This would suggest, then, that the huts the Caretakers live-in are the ruins of the Temple itself.

Also on Ahch-To, though, is what appears to be a Force tree, from which Luke has made something of a cave. This was first glimpsed in the teaser trailer, showing that it contained some books - one of which might be The Journal of the Whills.

The movie itself won't directly dive too deeply into the Order's history, but Johnson said there'll be elements on Ahch-To that do enhance the mythology: "Hopefully it will be fun to discover in the context of the movie. My notion was this is a place that goes all the way back. This is where the cave paintings are.”
