Another of the movie's most divisive moments is the flying Leia sequence, or what's been referred to as the 'Leia Poppins' scene, where the General taps into the Force.

Johnson says that Kathleen Kennedy would often bring up the fact that Leia is a Skywalker with the Force, and it's mentioned in Return of the Jedi but we never really see it, so that's why he wanted to have it here.

He describes Leia using the Force as being "through instinct, almost like you hear about parents when their kids are caught under cars being able to get Hulk strength and lift them up, that’s almost what I wanted this moment to be. Using the Force to say we're not done."
