Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 8 Major Plot Theories You Need To Know

6. Snoke Is Still Alive

The death of Snoke was one of The Last Jedi's most shocking scenes, and as you'd expect, fans have attempted to piece together a way he could have survived. Somewhat surprisingly, there are several factors that make this notion more plausible than it appears.

The first point to consider is the raw strength that Snoke possesses. He's shown slamming Hux onto the ground through a hologram - an ability unlike any we've seen in the Star Wars saga - can toy with the powerful Rey like she's a child, and is capable of bridging the minds of Rey and Kylo Ren while sat in his throne room in his PJs. Is death even possible for a being this powerful?

Secondly, Force users are capable of projecting realistic images of themselves from way across the galaxy - as we later find out when Luke does it. What if Snoke can also do this, and the body of his that died was just a decoy or projection?

Yes, Luke's Force projection has very limited physical interaction with its surroundings, but it does kiss Leia on the forehead, and looks convincing enough to make everybody believe he's actually there. Plus, when Rey and Kylo are "Force-Skyping" they're able to touch hands, and Kylo also gets water on his hand after a similar interaction with a rain-soaked Rey.

The point is, Force users are capable of projecting themselves and physically interacting with people and objects that are on different planets, so what if throne-room-Snoke was just a Force projection advanced enough to react to being chopped in half by a lightsaber?

And lastly, the biggest clue is this: that bridge between Rey and Kylo Ren (which was created and maintained by Snoke) still exists after Snoke's death. At the end of the film, Rey and Kylo are nowhere near each other, yet Kylo looks to her like she's right next to him. How could they still share this connection with Snoke no longer around?

They couldn't - so he must be alive.
