Star Wars The Last Jedi: 8 Plot Theories From The Expanded Universe

4. Rey Is Kylo Ren’s Sister

Rampant speculation has surrounded the identity of Rey’s parents. Is it Luke? Is she Obi Wan’s granddaughter? Maybe she’s related to the Emperor?

Potentially, it’s a no to all three. If Disney is looking to shamelessly loot the expanded universe for all that it’s worth, audiences will be looking at a sibling showdown as Rey is Han Solo and Leia Organa’s other child.

There are hints that support this, Kylo Ren seems to take an instant dislike to her and mocks her search for a ‘father figure’ in the form of Han. While interrogations aren’t exactly meant to be a spa day, you can’t help but shake the feeling that there’s something personal beneath it.

Then there’s Han’s own reaction after he’s spent some time with her. No other character has commanded that level of respect from the grizzled smuggler since perhaps Luke back when they were in their prime, never mind offering them a job. Being that his and Leia’s only known child, Ben, is strong with the force it certainly isn’t a push to expect that if he were to have a sibling, they would share this ability.

Assuming that this is the route that they’re taking, things aren’t going to be looking so good for Kylo Ren by the end of this trilogy. In the expanded universe, Han and Leia had two children Jaina and Jacen. Jacen turned to the Dark Side, did a lot of evil stuff and, in the ironically named 2008 novel ‘Invincible’, was confronted and killed by his sister.
