Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 9 Questions None Of The Trailers Have Answered

2. What Role Will Benicio Del Toro’s Character Play?

Most of The Last Jedi's key characters are well known to Star Wars fans, but Benicio Del Toro’s DJ is a notable exception. He's been largely absent from the promo campaign, even though his role sounds substantial.

The character's DJ moniker was derived from his nickname on set: Don't Join, which could refer to his reluctance to side with the Resistance and The First Order.

Del Toro’s part is said to be that of a codebreaker whose services are enlisted by the Resistance, though he holds no loyalty to them. Specifically, he will be part of the mission John Boyega’s Finn and Kelly Marie Tran’s Rose undertake at the gambling resort city of Canto Bight, but that still throws up more questions than answers.

Does he follow the good guys there willingly, or do they capture or free him there? One thing is for sure, DJ (or whatever his real name ends up being) is dodgy, but does that mean a betrayal or a turn for the Machiavellian on the cards, or has the sequel trilogy found a replacement for the roguish Han Solo?

The Puerto Rican star joins fellow newcomers Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran in The Last Jedi, but with so little trailer footage of his character to go off, it's difficult to acertain how his relationship with the good guys will pan out.
